Carbon offsetting involves funding projects globally that reduce carbon emissions in a measurable and verifiable way. These projects rely on the additional "carbon finance" provided by individuals or organizations offsetting their emissions to make them possible.
Carbon Footprint Ltd is certified under the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS), originally established by the UK Government and now managed as an independent not-for-profit organization. The QAS conducts an independent audit of all Carbon Footprint Ltd’s carbon offsetting activities annually, following a stringent 40-point plan. The audits are performed by AEA – Ricardo, global experts who develop the annual UK Carbon Conversion Factors and methodologies used as industry benchmarks for greenhouse gas reporting.
Carbon offsets are retired on international carbon registries, such as Markit, APX, and Gold Standard, either in the name of Carbon Footprint Ltd or on behalf of the client. All carbon retirements by Carbon Footprint Ltd are audited as part of the QAS process to ensure that we have retired a sufficient number of credits, meeting the required types and standards to cover our annual carbon offset sales.
